LONDON (Reuters) - Mobile telephone text messaging has become so popular in Britain that millions of users now suffer injuries to their thumbs and fingers because of their love of keeping in touch, according to a survey on Tuesday.

Over 93.5 million text messages are sent every day but all this digit action has lead to an explosion in people reporting cases of repetitive strain injury (RSI).

Thirty-eight percent more people suffer from sore wrists and thumbs due to texting than five years ago and 3.8 million people now complain of text-related injuries every year.

The survey for Virgin Mobile found the texting phenomenon shows no sign of slowing. Over 12 percent of the population admit to sending 20 texts per day and 10 percent confess to sending up to 100 texts every day.

While psychologists say it is important for people to communicate there is a danger that using arms-length tools like texting and email is making people uncomfortable with more intimate face-to-face conversations.

There has even been concern voiced that some people run the risk of becoming addicted to excessive texting.

Sir,
You should know who i am (toilets).

I`m one of those person who sms a lot, in short non stop.Partly because its cheaper.I think within 5 minutes i can type 2-3 sms.My cousin is even better he can type sms without looking at the key pad.I have yet to reach that level.Sometimes its tiring (my fingers) and my thumbs hurt and may be a little bit swollen. However, from today onwards my fingers can go on a holiday because yesterday morning my hand phone dropped into the toilet bowl.No more hp to sms now, until i get another one.

it might be true but never try to be that terrible.sms only allowed 160 words+spacing. Therefore even wan to send more info exactly need to send more n more sms.But v know dat sms not only used to gather info nowadays.handphone use to be toy to every1.Whenever free, boring, sad, happy, sleepy, awake handphone wont left its owner,so smsing is unavoided. Moreover, sms dun need any thought on wat going to say.It doent need face to face interface. Therefore, watever also will be the topic for smsing, undeniable sms will be infinity.i read alot of cases about tackling gals with sms.For me that gal only falling in love to his sms but not the person who he is -_-" I'm strongly agree that sms will intimate f2f conversation. In future a lot of in door smsing ppl will be reluctant to face the real ppl. They might b uncomfortable and dun wan how to show their emotion and react to some1.
